As we have spent the past couple of months re-imagining and re-creating how we serve people with disabilities around the world through the Body of Christ, we are always mindful of the fact that part of the Body of Christ serving with us is YOU! We want to offer more ways for YOU to become involved in what is happening around the world as well. Our hearts are thrilled weekly as we hear stories of changed lives and changed communities. We know your heart will be encouraged and challenged as well. So, here are some ways you can be involved!

1. Take our Made in God’s Image mini-workshop.

If you've ever wanted to know a little more about the actual work of AHI, this is the engagement for you! Made in God's Image is a condensed version of our Theology of Disability workshop taught around the world. Think of it as a "sample," like at Costco! We will be holding these 3-hour Zoom workshops once every quarter. The next one is scheduled for August 11th from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Central Daylight Time.

2. Join Us in Praying for the Nations

Every Wednesday morning at 9:00 am Central we gather on Zoom to pray for people with disabilities, the ministry of AHI and others, and the needs of our world. Participants in this prayer time come from all over the world! Come and join us! Click the button below and sign up for the Prayer time. You will receive an email with the Zoom link and prayer liturgy that guides our time.

3. Complete our Ministry Partner Survey!

We want to hear from you, and get to know you better. Click through on the link below to complete our survey, and as a thank you gift, you will receive a Lectio Divina Meditation entitled “Resting? Or Running...?” This Scripture meditation experience around our ministry’s annual theme, “Trust & Rest,” will minister to you during these stressful and trying days in which we find ourselves.

4. Schedule a “Crafting Hope” card-making event for you and your friends.

The women in the Fair Trade Co-op in Sierra Leone have put together a fun, engaging, instructional video event for learning to make the popular cards in our Hope Shop (link to Hope Shop) – with them as the teachers! With just a few easily available supplies, you can host an evening of fun and crafting with your friends, and make some beautiful cards to mail off to encourage others. We can’t take you to Sierra Leone right now, but we can bring the women in Sierra Leone to you through this fun event! This event can be done in-person or virtually with a group of friends.

5. Desserts in the Dark

A fun evening of sweets and simulation, learning more about the experience of disability. When you plan one of these interactive, simulation events, you will be sent a complete kit with everything you need for an informative and engaging evening. All you supply is the friends and the dessert! You will hear about the day-to-day life of someone who is blind, and spend the evening in simulated “darkness,” learning first-hand about some of the challenges of being blind.

We are so grateful for you, our wider ministry team, and hope that these resources will refresh, encourage, challenge, and equip you, as we work together to see people with disabilities worldwide live hope-filled lives as full and valued members of their communities.

THANK YOU!
