A Prayer For December

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

Heavenly Father,

Your kindness to us is so abundant! We are often overwhelmed with the brokenness in our world - but we can not even begin to understand all of the amazing work your Spirit is doing around the world in our day. Yes, we have felt deep disappointments and sorrows this past year. But we trust in you. We trust that, through our prayers and deeds, you are powerfully transforming people and drawing them to yourself. We trust that your thoughts are higher and your plans are better than anything we can imagine. Thank you, Jesus, for coming to dwell with us and making all of this redemptive work possible.

We specifically praise you for your powerful work in the hidden and overlooked places of our world. Untold numbers of people around our world are sadly neglected and abused, many of them with disabilities. But we pray that your people, the Church, with the humility of Jesus, would increasingly open their hearts and hands to them, offering them welcome, love, and inclusion. Even in this, we trust you to do far more than we can ask or imagine. To you be all the praise!
